Monmouth Rowing Club is celebrating an incredible achievement by our Head Coach, Tim Male, who has set a new world record on the Concept2 Dynamic rowing machine.
Competing in the 40–49 age group, Tim rowed an astonishing 16,498 meters in 60 minutes, breaking the previous record and proving that his elite-level endurance and determination are as strong as ever. Whilst usually a lightweight, he broke the record for heavyweight men.
An Olympian’s Legacy
Tim is no stranger to pushing limits. As an Olympic rower, he represented Great Britain in the lightweight men’s four at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, competing at the highest level of the sport. Since retiring from international racing, he has dedicated his career to coaching, sharing his knowledge and passion with the next generation of rowers.
At Monmouth Rowing Club, we are privileged to have Tim leading our coaching team. His experience, technical expertise, and competitive mindset inspire our athletes every day—whether they are taking their first strokes on the water or aiming for national and international success.

Everyone at Monmouth Rowing Club is immensely proud of Tim’s achievement. His world record is an inspiration to our rowers and a testament to the high-performance and inclusive environment he fosters at the club.
See you all on the water...or should that be ergo.
