Making Waves: Meet Our 2025 Learn to Row Novices!

There’s a fresh ripple of excitement down at Monmouth Rowing Club as we welcome eight brave new novices to our first Learn to Row course of 2025! Under the ever-patient and ever-enthusiastic guidance of Louise, our latest recruits are taking their first strokes into the wonderful (and occasionally wobbly) world of rowing.

From mastering the art of not falling in (so far, so good…) to learning the difference between strokeside and bowside without a map, they’ve thrown themselves into training with energy, determination, and a lot of laughter.

We’re incredibly proud of how quickly they’re picking up the basics — and even more impressed by their ability to laugh through the occasional crabbing incident! With Louise, Chris and James steering the ship (sometimes quite literally), we can’t wait to see how these future rowers grow over the coming weeks.

Here’s to many more sunny sessions, steady strokes, and successful starts. Welcome to the Monmouth RC family — we’re thrilled to have you aboard.

If you are interested in learning to row, why not put your name down for a future course. Just drop a line to Helen at ltr@monmouthrc.org.uk

See you on the water.
