Monmouth Rowing Club Shines at Llandaff Regatta
Monmouth Rowing Club had an impressive showing at the Llandaff Regatta, held in Cardiff on the picturesque River Taff. The event was graced with fine weather, creating ideal conditions for rowing and an enjoyable atmosphere for participants and spectators alike.
One of the standout moments for Monmouth was the victory in the double scull event. This race saw exceptional performance and teamwork, culminating in a well-deserved win. For one of the rowers, Richard, this victory was particularly special as it marked his first win. His dedication and hard work paid off, and the joy on his face was mirrored by the club's supporters.
The success of the double scull team was a highlight, and followed by another swimming performance (Ed..surely winning) by Scott, this time in a single, but the entire club showed commendable performance across various events. Each race was fiercely contested, demonstrating the high level of competition and the athletes' commitment to excellence.
Athletes from all three squads raced, including several from the club squad racing in their first local regatta with a few having the additional challenge of having to steer not only a bend on the course but also to avoid that infamous weir!!
A huge well done to those who took on that challenge! All crews had some good racing & enjoyed the experience.
Crews racing were:
Sat: WC4x, WD2x, WE2x, Op2x, Op2-, F2x
Sun: WC4x, Op2x, Op2-, F2x, F1x
Wins came in the F1x (Scott) & F2x (Scott & Richard) - a much deserved first pot for Richard who has put in so much time & effort into both water & land training sessions this year.
Congratulations to Monmouth Rowing Club for their splendid performance at the Llandaff Regatta. With the fine weather and the splendid scenery of the River Taff, it was a day to remember and a testament to the hard work and passion that define the club. Here's to many more successful regattas in the future!
