Gloucester and Ross Regattas

In total 30 members raced at Gloucester &/or Ross regatta on Sat, Sun & Mon run over the August Bank holiday. The majority of crews for all 3 days of racing were crews that had not worked together before, but entering these crews gave everyone opportunity to race with others from all 3 squads.

At Gloucester there were wins for the Mx8+ (Colin L, Tim M, Toby H, Paul B, Sara P, Liz N, Louise T, Bonita B, cox Taryn B) & C/D2x (Toby H & Tim M).

Both the Op4+ & Mx4+ won their semi finals, but in both cases were unable to hold off their considerably younger opponents in the finals.

T McC had a fantastic race in the WG1x, neck & neck all the way down the course just being pipped at post by opposition from Exeter.

Sunday racing at Ross saw Ewart B & Mark L competing in their first ever 2x race. Unfortunately having to adjust their racing line off the start, they were unable to make up the metres lost but raced well.

Archie C won the J161x event convincingly. Bonita B had a great race but despite losing by just under 2 lengths, she came off water very happy to have completed her first race in a 1x in such a competitive manner.

On Monday the Monmouth contingent were busy competing in 15 events. In W2- Izzy L & Sara P raced in only their 2nd time in the boat (a big ask) but made it safely down the course. Pip W had a close race against Chloe W - an ex MRC member now rowing at Carmarthen - losing by just a length.

The WE4x (Bonita B, Louise T, Jayne S & Liz L) won their semi final convincingly but were unable to repeat the win in the final v host club Ross.

Wins on the day came in WF1x (MJ), J161x (Archie C) & C2- (Al B & Tim M)

Well done to all who took part; it was great to be part of such a supportive group both on & off the water - yet another weekend showing fantastic club spirit.

As always crews were very grateful for those who coxed or steered. A massive thanks to Paul B for towing to & from both events and to our coach Tim M for all the plans, pre race preps and crews he rowed in.
