Rowing

There are four main categories of rowers at Monmouth: MenWomenVeterans and JuniorsWithin these groups there is a range of ability from novice to senior. Rowing includes both sweep oar and sculling and training is done in squads or in crews for a particular event.

Training takes place all year round; Summer training (Regatta season) is mainly done on the water to make the most of the light nights but in the winter there is usually only time for rowing at weekends and weekdays are used for fitness training (ergo, circuits and weights)

Monmouth is a particularly friendly club and captains and coaches know it is not always possible to commit to specific training hours. Those rowers who decide not to compete or have other commitments are free to train at their own pace.

Wednesday evenings (in the Summer) and Sunday mornings are popular times for ‘social’ rowing.
