About the Club
Monmouth Rowing Club is located close to the centre of Monmouth beside the River Wye
Since its formation in 1929, the aim of Monmouth Rowing Club has been to promote rowing in the Town with people of all ages and it is now a thriving and successful Club with over 100 members. Whilst junior and younger members are actively encouraged Monmouth is known primarily as a masters’ Club and like most clubs outside London the average age of our members is over 40.
The River Wye at Monmouth is perhaps one of the most attractive stretches or rowing river in the country with 2500 metres of summer rowing (without any powered boats) and in the winter a 6km row is possible at most times.

The club caters not only for those whose aim is to be competitive at national or regional regattas but also for those who want to participate in rowing as part of a social and healthy life style.
Monmouth also has three school rowing clubs (Haberdasher’s Boys, Girls and the Comprehensive School) who all row on the same stretch of river.
Haberdashers Girls and the Comprehensive School rowing clubs share the boathouse with Monmouth and share the other facilities of the gym and club room.

There is a great ethos within the Club of competing at all levels from the Worlds to local regattas.
The Club trips away are famous with races in Belgium, Finland, Holland and Switzerland.
The longer distance Heads are very popular with members and trips for the Boston Marathon, Great Ouse Marathon and many others are much enjoyed.
As well as enjoying the social side of rowing The Club has been extremely successful in recent years winning.
